OUR STRUCTURE

Formed in December 2004 as a Florida nonprofit corporation and tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, Rural Neighborhoods, Incorporated is the parent corporation for the many charitable activities we and our related entities undertake. Rural Neighborhoods has a broad-based board of directors of up to fifteen persons. Everglades Housing Group, Incorporated provides much needed supportive services to the poor and manages residential and commercial real estate owned by Rural Neighborhoods and our related entities.

Established in 1982, Everglades Community Association, Incorporated served as the predecessor to Rural Neighborhoods. Our early success was accomplished under the Everglades label and old colleagues often still speak of our charitable work as that of ‘ECA’. Its nine-person board guides our Miami-Dade County, FL undertakings and the corporation has ownership interests in local projects and our earliest real estate developments.

Rural Neighborhoods engages neighborhood residents and leaders through local boards of directors. Big Cypress Housing Corporation in Collier County, FL and Little Manatee Housing Corporation in Hillsborough County, FL guide our charitable work in those communities.

Everglades Housing Trust, Incorporated holds ownership interests in new real estate projects developed under the Low Income Housing Tax Credit. Pollywog Creek Senior Housing is a single-purpose entity and holds ownership to our HUD 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly residential community in Hendry County, FL.

Rural Neighborhoods and all related entities noted above are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Financial activities of all related entities are included in the consolidated financial statements of Rural Neighborhoods, Incorporated.
